Fugu Japanese Damansara Jaya – Variety of Set Meal
Fugu has been there for some time, we passed by many times but did not think of dropping by because our go to place is always Ume Tei. Since Ume Tei has moved and it is quite a distant from PJ, we have got to explore new location. This is in hope to find a nearby replacement to fix our Japanese’s crave.
So far we tried a few such as Robataya, but still not quite found the one yet. So on that Saturday afternoon, we finally decided to try out Fugu. We parked in front of the shop lot, there are plenty of car parks inside Atria mall and it is a few minutes walk to Fugu.
The Menu
Quite a extensive menu Fugu has. As we are having lunch and it was our first visit, we were exploring mainly on the set menu.
Their set menu includes appetizer, soup, chawan mushi, rice and fruits. Quite a complete meal on it own.
The food
During our visit, we ordered one set meal, which is the chirashi sushi set and the soba in shoyu soup (ala carte).
The chirashi sushi came with four types of sashimi, each in two pieces served with sushi rice, crab stick, tamagoyaki and pickled gingers. Together with the side dishes, it made a big meal for lunch. The sashimi were fresh. We liked it and think this can be the alternative to Ume Tei.
As for the soba in shoyu soup, the soup is quite ordinary, it came with a fried prawn, egg and some vegetables. Would be good for a rainy weather (happened to be heavy rain half way through our lunch).
The environment and price of Fugu
Clean and tidy interior, though the leather chairs cause it to be less Japanese feel, we still think wooden chair feel more Japanese (LoL).Â
However, unexpectedly the music choice was to our liking during our visit, not sure who was the lady Japanese singer, but we loved all the song played from the shop’s iPad.
We paid around RM70 for the lunch.Â
