Restoran Chuan Xiang Bai 川湘百味 Wei is yet another new mala dishes restaurant recently opened in SS 2. We had been to its nearby neighbour Lucky Pot which also serves similar spicy food. Hence this time round, we went to Chuan Xiang Bai Wei to try out for the first time.
From its signboard, the restaurant is specialized in Sichuan and Hunan cuisine and also the northeastern cuisine.
The Chinese style utensils and the mini stove for the grilled fish
The one pot Wan Zhou grilled fish 万州烤鱼. Look at the dried red chili to get a feel of its spiciness. The fish was a 1kg tilapia which had been deep fried and placed on top of the pot. The vegetables and other ingredients were still uncooked when the pot was served. The staff advised to eat the fish first while waiting for the soup to boil

The dried chilies. There are three flavours to choose from: spicy fragrant, spicy mala and garlic fragrant. We chose the spicy fragrant as told by the staff, this will not be too spicy and would be just tasty to go with plain rice
The bean sprouts were very juicy and complement well with the spicy mala soup. The soup was not too spicy, the oiliness was acceptable. Not too salty as well. Overall we quite like this Wan Zhou grilled fish

What do We Like about Restoran Chuan Xiang Bai Wei?
The grilled fish was very much worth the value. Delicious sauce/ gravy with good kick of numbing sensation
