Ante @ One Utama - Gigantic Porklicious Steak

Received a SMS from Ante with Buy 1 Get 1 Free pork steak promotion. What a steal! Therefore here we come to Ante, when we arrived, we recount that we have not been to 1U for a year (last been to 1U in May 2020). It used to be our bi-weekly spot, #blamecovid.

Ante is famous for their pork dishes. They also serve the general western foods such as pasta, roasted chicken, lamb chop and fish etc.

The Menu

All four of their signature pork steaks are available for the promotion. There are two types of striploin, one type of shoulder and one type of rib eye to choose from.

The staff recommended us to try the rib eye and shoulder as it will be more tender than striploin. Since we need to choose two, we went with the recommendation. We also requested for side dishes to be fries and grilled vegetables for the steak.

To complement the steak, we ordered a bacon minestrone with medley of vegetable.

The food in Ante

And then the steak was served – pork ribeye with truffled butter sauce and fries.

Next up was the pork shoulder seasoned and grilled with fragrant spiced rub. The kitchen has mistakenly gave us fries for both steaks so the staff has added on a separate plate of grilled vegetables for us.

Look at the size of both steaks, it was a huge steak. The menu stated the pork shoulder is 450g, the size that can easily feed two persons.

The rib eye with truffled butter sauce is the star. It tastes bit salty with the gravy and goes very well with the pork steak. Like this sauce very much, but the staff came to ask us if we need additional sauce when we are about to finish the steak so we skipped that. Else we will definitely add on some sauce.

Comparatively the pork shoulder rubbed with spices was not to our liking, the spices did not taste wow for us. It actually tasted like satay sauce but a drier version. The meat for both steaks were tender enough as described by the staff.

The aftermath, we cannot finish portion of the spiced steak and the additional fries so we asked for take away. So be careful with the order if there is only two pax dining in.

The environment and price

Good ambience in the restaurant, the lighting is dim. The place is spacious and good for celebration or occasion. The service was very good and the staff was attentive. Did not expect that actually.

The bill came to about RM 75+ because we had the free steak discount.
