ONO SS 2 - When Two Worlds Collide

Ono – new cafe addition to the SS 2 neighborhood, so new that it has just officially opened its door today and we have paid them a visit! 🙂

As the line seen at the entrance door suggests – when two worlds collide, Ono serves both Japanese tea and coffee. They claim to be ‘The World’s First Specialty Coffee & Matcha Cafe’ (as found in the IG: Story of Ono).

The Menu

There are both coffee and Japanese tea choices found in Ono’s menu. For coffee, there are espresso based and filter coffee. For Japanese tea, there are matcha and houjicha in tea and latte range.

The special drinks are coffee x matcha signature, coffee signature and matcha signature.

For foods, Ono serves savoury and dessert sando. Not many choices for now but all looks interesting for future visit.

The Tea and Coffee of Ono

As this is the first time we set foot into Ono, we just followed the gut feel to pick whatever we feel like to have. So we chose ‘Ren’ (the ceremonial matcha) and ‘Tsubaki’ (the roast houjicha latte) for drink.

Also added on a strawberry sando.

Of the two drinks, we liked Tsubaki more due to the texture and the light sweetness. Ren tasted more bland as compared to Tsubaki.

Strawberry sando was a combination of bread, strawberry and cream. The cream were good and the combination were interesting. But we still conventionally think it will be better with puff.

The environment of Ono

During the first day of opening, Ono has attracted a lot of customers as it was a full house during our lunch hours’ visit. The staff were attentive and everything was in orderly manner.

The interior design is clean and minimalist. We like the seating arrangement as well.
