Peng Heong Hakka Paikut (Pork Ribs) Restaurant at Klang

Hopped to Klang for some meaty and porky lunch at Peng Heong Hakka Paikut. Paikut means pork ribs, not sure if it is Hakka, but we are sure it is Hokkien.

Peng Heong is the famous shop among the residents of Klang and visitors.

We were there before the lunch crowds piling up, the restaurant is almost having full name with few empty tables only.

There are quite a few of their signature dishes, namely, the must order spare ribs king, asam fish, meatball, mutton curry, vinegar pig feet (pork knuckle), asam mustard and many more.

Pork Knuckles and Mutton Curry

We ordered the pork ribs, meat balls, vinegar pork knuckles, mutton curry and two braised eggs to go with the specialty charcoal rice. It came with hint of charcoal fragrance.

The ribs undoubtedly were the highlight, juicy and perfectly grilled. Next highlight was the mutton curry, the curry was thick and very flavorful.

Meatballs were normal and we prefer the knuckles to be braised longer so that the skin can be softer and more tender. It lacked the the sour taste and was on the sweeter side, might be the type of vinegar used.

Peng Heong also served the soya milk in big bottle. We saw many tables ordering it for sharing, as there are only two of us, we did not order that.

The environment and price at Peng Heong

The restaurant is without any aircon, it gets quite stuffy during lunch hours. There are some trees at the side of the shop, not sure if it blocks the air circulation.

There are also always big crowds so expect to eat fast and leave fast. The moment we finished the foods and about to put on our mask, the boss was already standing beside our table apologizing and requested for us to vacant the table for next diners.

Not a peaceful lunch.

We ordered all the dishes in small portions, the bill came about RM 45, consider reasonable.

Worth returning to Peng Heong?

Yes but not as frequent.
