Teo Chew Porridge at Sun Fatt Kee, SEA Park

The Teo Chew Porridge store located in Sun Fatt Kee coffeeshop has been there for quite sometime but we have never tried before. In fact we have never went into this coffeeshop, because it is kind of dark and looks unwelcomed.

Sun Fatt Kee is the shop houses the famous Bumbung nasi lemak in the back lane between Maybank. There is also a bak kut teh stall at night.

After reading some review of the stall, we decided to give it a try as we can hardly find another porridge store nearby except for Tasty Porridge in SS 2.

Porridge is suitable for hot weather, do you agree? (or is it just me?) Watery porridge is easier for consumption in my opinion.

Instead of mixing all the veggie and meats we picked into the rice, we can have the dishes into individual small plates. It satisfies the desire like we are ordering dishes, it is just that the portions are smaller for two persons.

There are quite a big variety of foods to choose from. We think they are cooked in Teo Chew style hence the stall name – Teo Chew Porridge.

We picked ikan kembung, lobak, steamed minced pork, braised tofus, braised eggs, choi pou, ham choi (both are marinated veggies) to go with two plain porridge.

The ikan kembung in assam gravy surprisingly were good, it must have been fried before putting into the gravy. The two marinated veggies were not too salty and the lobak and minced pork went well with the porridge.

Overall we like all the dishes we picked. There are actually more we like to try out (like the lala), perhaps next time.

The environment and price

Teo Chew Porridge is one of the stall located in the coffeeshop, typical coffeeshop setting and environment.

For the dishes we picked, it costs us RM 20, acceptable price.

Not to forget the lady boss is very friendly too

Worth returning?

Yes to try out other dishes.
