About the shop

Menya Shi-Shi Do, a ramen restaurant that will guarantee appear in the search result if you are looking for ramen in Petaling Jaya. Located in a relatively small area in the mall, this shop is always packed with eager diners. People are willing to wait in line during peak hour (sometime the wait could even go up to hour) for a bowl of authentic Japanese ramen.

Look at their Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/menyashishido/) to see how frequent the shop posts the queuing situation at the shop.

We were there during for early dinner at 5pm on a weekday therefore managed to get a table directly. No crowds on that particular day so there was no people staring at you while they are queuing. *Relief*

The menu

We guess the specialty of Menya Shi-Shi Do is the many flavours of ramen soup base.  Moreover, it allows us to mix and match it.

For example, the soup bases are in different colours for easy ordering: black (garlic), red (spicy), yellow (curry), green (basil), etc. Have fun playing mix and match 🙂

We may choose from single, double or even triple flavours. Go for the Shi-Shi Ramen for the best value. It comes together with spring onion, black fungus, egg and two pieces of pork shoulders.

Taste wise, the ramen’s texture was just nice. The soup was flavourful and tasted quite strong. Both the soup and ramen go very well with each others.

Tsukemen

Another specialty of Menya Shi-Shi Do is tsukemen, a type of dry ramen where the soup is served in separate bowl. It is also called dipping noodle where we can dip the noodle or pour the soup into the ramen as we like.

Menya Shi-Shi Do - is it worth to come back?

In summary, a good place for a bowl of comfort ramen, however the price is on the high side. We would only be back during non-peak hours, queuing for foods is not our favourite thing to do.
