The Living Room at The Westin Kuala Lumpur is celebrating the Lunar New Year with an auspicious spread and offerings to usher in good fortune and prosperity. Symbolic of wealth and prosperity, the menu on the buffet is specially curated by the Hotel’s Chinese Chef de Cuisine, David Poh, with dishes that are perfect for families and friends to usher in the New Lunar Year together.

The spread will also feature main Braised Hong Kong ‘Ee Fu’ Noodles with Smoked Duck, Steamed Whole Snapper with Chef’s Signature Sauce, Braised Duck with Leek, Wok-Fried Spicy Asparagus with Shrimp in Yam Ring, Braised Sea Cucumber with Chinese Mushroom and Long Cabbage, and Vegetarian ‘Loh Hon Chai’ with Treasure Mushroom.
Chef David’s desserts include Double-boiled Red Dates with Glutinous Rice Balls, Nian Gau, Crispy Lotus Pancake, Chilled Snow Skin Dumpling and Fortune Cookies.
Lunar New Year Day Dinner Buffet
Chef David’s menu for the first day of the Lunar New Year celebrations will not disappoint. The menu offers a Carving Corner, Lok Lok, Noodle Counter and a sumptuous spread of hot casserole mains.
The highlights include Pot-Roasted Lamb Leg with Mala Spice, Crispy Roasted Smoked Chicken with Spicy Garlic Cucumber, served with Creamy Truffle Sauce and Orange Plum Sauce. Noodles include Fish Noodle Soup, Pan Mee Soup, a hearty serving of Double-Boiled Red Dates with Lotus and Fish Maw, and a spread of hot dishes including Mud Crab with Salted Egg Yolk, Herbal Superior ‘Chi Ku Teh’ with Mushroom, Braised Vegetarian ‘Loh Hon Chai’ with ‘Fatt Choy’ and Steamed Red Snapper with Szechuan Wanton.
Desserts will include Double-boiled Red Dates with White Fungus and Glutinous Rice Balls, a New Year must-have, Nian Gau, as well as Fortune Cookies and Pineapple Tarts.
The buffet spread will also feature The Living Room’s signature Fresh Seafood on Ice, Salads, Western favourites, Indian and Malay dishes as well as a delectable dessert section.
The Living Room’s Lunar New Year offerings will be available for 2 days, on the Eve of the Lunar New Year and for dinner on the first day of the Lunar festivities.
