Cozy Dinner at Sam Hou Express BKT

In the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s bustling foods scene, tucked away in Wisma Cosway, is a hidden gem that promises to tickle your taste buds. Sam Hou Express Bak Kut Teh, a branch of the main outlet in Desa Sri Hartamas, has been serving up delicious comfort food for a whole decade. We recently had the pleasure of dining at this express concept eatery, hosted by the friendly Mirage and Gary. Let’s take you through our dinner experience at Sam Hou Express Bak Kut Teh.

With ten years of experience in the F&B world, Sam Hou has made a name for itself. People love their flavorful and authentic Bak Kut Teh. In 2022, they decided to open an express concept branch in Wisma Cosway to cater to the busy crowds in the area.

The Dinner

Our dinner at Sam Hou Express Bak Kut Teh was a simple yet extraordinary one. The menu offered a variety of mouthwatering dishes, each with its own unique flavors. Here’s a taste of what we enjoyed:

  1. Soup Bak Kut Teh: We kicked off our meal with the classic Soup Bak Kut Teh, a fragrant broth filled with Chinese herbs and tender pork ribs. This dish really set the tone with its bold flavors.

  2. Dry Bak Kut Teh: Moving on, we tried the Dry Bak Kut Teh, equally tasty from the usual soup version. The pork belly were coated in gravy, accompanied with okra and lot of shredded dried cuttlefish that left a memorable taste.

  3. Vinegar Pork Leg: The Vinegar Pork Leg was a blend of savory and slight tangy, with tender pork leg cooked in a tangy vinegar sauce.

  4. Stir Fry Intestines with Dried Shrimps: This dish was a real surprise. The stir-fried intestines, flavored with dried shrimps and chili padi, offered a burst of umami goodness in every bite. It paired perfectly with rice.

  5. Assam Pedas Seafoods: For those who like it spicy and tangy, the Assam Pedas Seafoods was a real treat with fresh stingray, squids and prawn in a spicy tamarind sauce.

  6. Freshly Fried Yau Cha Guai: To round off our meal, we enjoyed freshly fried Yau Cha Guai. These crispy dough fritters were a delightful contrast to the hearty Bak Kut Teh soup, perfect for dipping and savoring.
